Named Insureds
- Named Insured: if the Individual Named Insured is the vehicle registrant.
- Named Insured and Spouse: if both the Individual Named Insured and Spouse are registrants.
- Spouse: if the Spouse is the vehicle registrant.
- Named Insured with DBA: if both the Individual Named Insured and the Listed DBA are the vehicle registrants.
- DBA: if the listed DBA (Doing Business As) is the vehicle registrant.
- Partnership/Corp: if the vehicle is registered in the name of the business that is listed as the Named Insured.
- Part/Corp w/ DBA: if the vehicle is registered in the name of the business that is listed as the Named Insured and the listed DBA (Doing Business As).
• Note: there are cases where a Named Insured chooses to schedule a vehicle that is registered to a non-related entity. In many situations, the scheduled vehicle's registrant has a liability policy where their insurer reported proof of insurance to the DMV. In those cases, the DMV does not want a second proof of insurance reported, nor have NY ID cards issued.
The most common cases are described below. If state reporting is not required for the vehicle, select the option below that matches the vehicle registrant.
- Non-registered trailer: if a trailer is not registered and does not require proof of insurance for NY.
- Vehicle not registered in NY: if a vehicle or trailer is registered outside of NY and does not require proof of insurance for NY.
- Not Listed: there may be additional situations that are not captured by any of the above options. If this option is selected for any vehicle,
document who the vehicle registrant is in the policy notes and describe their relationship, if any, to the named insured. If the vehicle
registrant does not meet our guidelines, the policy will be unacceptable. Contact customer service if you have any questions.
